Overview
Shelflife sends automated email alerts to help you stay ahead of stockouts without constantly checking the dashboard.
Types of alerts
1. Critical stock alerts
Sent when products are forecasted to run out within your critical threshold (default: 3 days). Available on both Free and Growth plans.
The email lists all critical products with their current stock level and forecasted stockout date, along with a link to your dashboard.
2. Warning stock alerts (Growth plan)
Sent when products are forecasted to run out within your warning threshold (default: 7 days). These give you earlier notice so you can plan ahead.
3. Purchase order reminder emails (Growth plan)
Sent on the expected delivery date of a purchase order. The email includes the PO details and quick action buttons to mark the order as received or partially received — right from your inbox.
Configuring alerts
Go to Settings to manage your alerts:
- Toggle each alert type on or off
- Add email addresses — Free plan supports 1 email address; Growth plan supports up to 10
- Customize thresholds — Set your own critical and warning day thresholds (Growth plan)
When are alerts sent?
Stock alerts are evaluated daily based on the latest forecasts. You'll receive one consolidated email listing all products that need attention, rather than separate emails per product.
Delivery reminders are sent on the morning of the expected delivery date.
